High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Radio Wimbledon is the official radio station to the annual Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the AELTC in Wimbledon. Radio Wimbledon broadcasts daily on 87.7FM between 8am and approximately 10pm during the Championships at Wimbledon. Broadcast from specially designed studios near the Press Centre at the AELTC, it is available in an area approximately within a 5 mile radius of the AELTC under a Restricted Service Licence, as well as online through www.wimbledon.org. Launched in 1992 it provides extensive commentaries for matches using a team of reporters around the ground. More recently, the service has been extended to provide dedicated commentaries for Centre Court on 96.3FM and No. 1 Court on 97.8FM. Due to the use of lower powered frequencies, these services are only available by radio for visitors in the stadiums, but are also available online. Radios are available in the grounds, though visitors are asked to use headphones at all times.

Radio broadcasts to schools programme has been in existence since 1920's. Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) develops Interactive Radio Lessons (IRLs) for learners in primary, secondary and tertiary schools including the general public. In Kenya, radio broadcast to schools was introduced in 1960's with the aim of widening accessibility to education, improving quality of education, diffusing superior teaching methods to serving teachers and training of teachers at lower cost. The research study was carried out to find out the technological challenges being faced by radio broadcasts to schools programme in Kenya, the case of both public and private primary schools in Rangwe Division. The study used descriptive survey design. Data collection was done using semi structured questionnaires and observation schedules. The data collected from the field was coded and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively using descriptive statistics with the help of SPSS. The overall findings showed that absolute majority of schools in Rangwe division were not using radio broadcasts to schools programme in supplementing learning in upper classes.

Direct-broadcast satellite

Direct broadcast satellite is a term used to refer to satellite television broadcasts intended for home reception. A designation broader than DBS would be direct-to-home signals, or DTH. This was initially meant to distinguish the transmissions directly intended for home viewers from cable television distribution services that sometimes carried on the same satellite. The term DTH predates DBS satellites and is often used in reference to services carried by lower power satellites which required larger dishes for reception. In Europe, prior to the launch of Astra 1A in 1988, the term DBS was commonly used to describe the nationally-commissioned satellites planned and launched to provide TV broadcasts to the home within several European countries.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! XOrbit, Inc., a privately-held organization, claims to strive toward improving the quality of closed caption technologies for the hearing impaired, an FCC requirement for broadcasters. XOrbit develops and promotes products that purportedly eases the improvement and quality of closed captioning services for broadcast and cable television channels at a lower cost than traditional techniques. For example, they provide a product that prevents broadcasters from having to re-encode line21 captioning information into media whenever a change to the captioning is made. They also provide a product that allows stenographers to send captioning for a live event without requiring a satellite feed for the audio/video content (using TCP/IP technologies).

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Skywave is the propagation of electromagnetic waves bent (refracted) back to the Earth's surface by the ionosphere. As a result of skywave propagation, a broadcast signal from a distant AM broadcasting station at night, or from a shortwave radio station (or during sporadic E season, a low band TV station) can sometimes be heard as clearly as local stations. (This is distinct from "groundwave" propagation, which is direct from transmitter to radio). Most long-distance HF radio communication (between 3 and 30 MHz) is a result of skywave propagation. Since the early 1920s amateur radio operators, limited to lower transmitter power than commercial radio, have taken advantage of skywave for long distance or DX communication.
